Hi there! My name is Cath, which is short for Catharina. Born and raised in a town near Amsterdam (The Netherlands) I inherited the Dutch free spirit and open mind. I love spontaneous actions, passionate people and philosophical thinkers. I think being spontaneous, passionate and philisophical are the ingredients for an open mind and an adventures lifestyle!
LOVE & TRAVEL
Since my teenage years I love to travel, meet new people and hear their stories.
To name a few of my most impressive trips: I worked at an elementary school in Ghana (Africa) and Curacao (Dutch Antilles), walked the Inca trail to see Machu Pichu in Peru, I visted the Dalai Lama’s palace in Lhasa (Tibet), got dazzled by the colorful shawls in India and woke up by the calming meditation sounds in Nepal , I walked over the great wall in China and climbed the Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.
And… traveling brought me my husband!
I am happily married to the greatest man in the world (aren’t we all?;-) an American guy whom I met in Paris. It’s him whom I moved to America for in 2018 and I don’t regret my decision for a second!
EDUCATION & CREATING MEMORIES
I have a bachelor’s degree in teaching – primary school and a B.A. in theatre & cultural studies. To finish my educational career I went to the Photo Academy in Amsterdam. In Chicago I followed art studies at the University of Chicago Graham school and an online philosophical semester at Harvard University, HarvardX. My different educations thaught me how to tell unique stories with words and images. I truly believe in the power of images, in the importance of creating memories and in the magic of capturing people as their true selves.
OTHER THINGS I LOVE
I love bling (gold, silver, sequins, everything that shines),
on the other hand I love simplicity and minimalism, the contrast is what works for me.
Vintage is my second passion, Paris and Amsterdam are my favorite cities in Europe, bubbles make me happy (Prosecco or champaign is always a good idea!) and so do sunsets. ( I like sunrises too, but unfortunately I am not such an early bird). I love spending endless evenings with friends and family, they are my elixer of life!
